I had a Disney-like company 5 minutes from my house! -Gregg Meade
What is your day-to-day like at Kingdom Productions?
My day consists of interfacing with our clients, understanding their expectations, communicating their needs internally, and making sure it is executed to our KP standards. With time permitting, I get to be out in the shop.
What do you like most about your job?
I enjoy solving interesting, three-dimensional challenges, I love puzzles! Using both the analytical and creative parts of my brain. I really enjoy working with our clients – from start to finish – making sure their vision is realized.
What drew you to Kingdom Productions originally? How has Kingdom Productions changed since you joined?
After 20 plus years in advertising I found myself laid off due to downsizing. Not long after that, I was driving down Mount Carmel-Tobasco Road and passed a sign that read, ” 3-D Graphics, Signs, Themed Environments.” I turned around and met Steve Brown. I had a Disney-like company 5 minutes from my house! I came back the next day with my prop portfolio (building props had always been a passion) and met Hank. He gave a tour of the building and we talked for quite a while. The next day, I started as KP’s second hire. Kingdom has evolved and matured greatly since I first started 9 years ago, from being the 3rd employee to now 20 employees. Since then, we have moved into a building we currently own, recruited fantastic talent, and expanded our client base.
What did you want to do growing up?
I always wanted to be an inventor. I love puzzles, magic, science, and gadgets! I enjoy taking them apart and creating something new.
What do you find challenging about your job?
That balance between art against commerce.
What has been your favorite project at Kingdom Productions?
The life-size tiger sculpture I made for the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden in Cat Canyon. It was a project I owned all aspects of including the sculpting, casting, painting, and installation. It’s rewarding to create something in your hometown and have people say, “Really? I have a picture of my kid with that tiger!”
